"Noise is the most impertinent of all forms of interruption.  It is not only an interruption, but also a disruption of thought"

-Arthur Schopenhaur

What We

Do

Hearing loss due to noise exposure continues to be one of the most common occupational health problems. Despite the implementation of OSHA-compliant hearing conservation programs in 1983, there is evidence that conventional hearing protectors may not provide adequate protection for many individuals. The “Daily Occupational Noise Exposure” study will test whether individuals who are able to get daily feedback about their noise exposures have less hearing loss as a result of being able to accurately adjust their use of hearing protection. In addition, the data collected will allow researchers to analyze whether or not hearing loss continues to occur at noise exposures that average less than 85dB over an 8 hour workday.
